In chapter 1 of Fourth Wing, Violet mentions that her mom almost died from a sickness while pregnant with her. Her mom attributes her silver hair and physical disadvantages to the illness.
According to the text, Violet has only lived in Navarre for 5 years. When she and Dain were kids, they lived near the Krovlan border while their parents were stationed with the Southern Wing. It is unclear where else she may have lived, but her family did move around due to her mother’s career.
