Tyrrish Rebellion

“Tyrrendor was the last of the bordering provinces to join the alliance and swear fealty to King Reginald” (Yarros 24). Tyrrendor was the only province to attempt secession 627 years later. If this secession had been successful, it would have left Navarre defenseless.

People from Tyrrendor refer to the rebellion as “the apostasy.”

The event where Brennan and his dragon died fighting for Navarre. Violet’s mom, General Sorrengail successfully captured the Great Betrayer (Fen Riorson).

The 107 children of the rebellion leaders were marked with rebellion relics when their parents were executed. This is where they gained the title “marked ones.” Along with this, the children of the rebellion were conscripted as punishment for their parents’ crimes. Violet finds out in chapter 21 of Fourth Wing that the marked ones not only are forced to conscribe to Basgiath, but they are forced to join the Riders Quadrant. The youngest marked (now 6 years old) one is named Julianne, and she was born with her relic. General Melgren ordered the children to watch their parents’ executions, but King Tauri overrode his orders stating that “No child should watch their parent be put to death.”

After these children’s parents were executed, their homes were given to nobles who had remained loyal. These executions were known at the Calldyr executions. There is a death roll from this event listing all the names of the people executed for rebelling against Navarre. The capital of Tyrrendor, Aretia, was burned to the ground.
