Scribe Quadrant Norms

  • Scribes wake an hour before everyone else.
  • Scribes must wear cream tunics with a hood. First-years are identified by a single rectangle of gold woven onto their shoulders.
  • Only scribes may pass through the entrance to the Archives.
  • Scribes are expected to show stoic professionalism when interacting with others. Smiling and laughing are frowned upon, and scribes can be reprimanded for showing these kinds of emotions.
  • The scribes get battle reports from the frontline and prepare them for the riders for Battle Brief. In chapter 21 of Fourth Wing, Violet realizes that sometimes this information, despite it being non-confidential, is hidden from the riders.
