Easter Eggs

Here’s a list of Easter Eggs I’m noticing during my second re-read of the series. These will contain spoilers, so please do not read unless you’ve finished Fourth Wing and Iron Flame.

• Fourth Wing Chapter 1: When Violet’s eyes are describes as not being able to decide on a color, ranging from amber to blue to hazel. It reminds me of Andarna’s scales at the end of Iron Flame–color changing.
• Fourth Wing Chapter 1/2: When Xaden first meets Violet, it is an entirely different experience once you know his second signet that’s revealed at the end of Iron Flame. He hears her name and immediately wants to hate her but notices her and Rhiannon’s shoes and slightly backs down. He also encourages her to start moving on the parapet once Jack introduces himself and acts like he’s going to push Violet off. Xaden sees that Jack is actually serious and would kill her if presented with the chance, so he encourages Violet to move in order to prevent this. She grows on him almost immediately and I LOVE IT.
• Fourth Wing: Chapter 19- Xaden constantly tests Violet’s honesty in the beginning of their relationship. Now that we know his second signet is reading people’s intentions, he continually asks Violet if he misinterpreted something in order to test her. We see this in chapter 19. Also in this chapter, we see Tairn warn Xaden to not try and “read him.”
